Generations of Wisdom Applied for today

Kathleen and Jana are a mother and daughter who share a deep passion for coaching, discovered through their own leadership journeys. With a combined 50+ years of professional experience, they found that coaching unlocked a missing piece—helping leaders align their choices with who they truly are. Inspired to bring this transformative approach to others, they partnered to create The Coaching Center, blending wisdom from different generations to offer fresh perspectives and lasting impact.

Who We Are

Kathleen Clem

Kathleen Clem is an International Coaching Federation (ICF)  Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with over 30 years of experience coaching medical school faculty, residents, and students. I also coach health system leaders. As a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine, I balance practicing and teaching medicine with coaching medical professionals to thrive in high-pressure environments by building resilience, leadership, and communication skills.

Kathleen’s Coaching Style:

“I have served as a Department Chair and Division Chief for eighteen years, and as a Senior Executive Vice President for a health system before returning to academic medicine.

Through one-on-one coaching, I support my clients to enhance their effectiveness, navigate career transitions, and foster collaborative leadership. I strive to be a trusted coach who walks beside my clients to help them unlock their potential, foster greater fulfillment and strengthen their career and life impact in ways that are meaningful to help them thrive in high-pressure environments by strengthening resilience, leadership, and communication skills.

My coaching approach blends evidence-based methodology with a deep understanding of the unique challenges associated with combining the practice of medicine, education, and research, as well as health care system leadership.”

Jana Lee

Jana Lee is an ICF ACC-certified coach with over 20 years of experience in ministry leadership. Currently serving as a director at a faith-based nonprofit, Jana specializes in helping leaders make intentional choices that align with their values and identity. Her coaching approach combines deep listening, strategic insight, and a commitment to empowering leaders to thrive with clarity and confidence.

Jana’s Coaching Style:

“My journey into coaching began during a particularly difficult season in the life of the church and in the broader world. As I helped guide our community through significant transitions, I experienced coaching for the first time—and it changed everything. Having a coach provided clarity, courage, and steadiness in a time of uncertainty. I became a stronger and more grounded leader because of that support, and I quickly realized that coaching was the missing piece I wanted to bring to others.

Since then, I have been committed to creating a coaching space where clients can explore deeply, think intentionally, and discover what matters most to them. I draw on my training, my leadership experience, and my genuine love for people to help clients unlock their potential, navigate transitions, and pursue their goals with confidence.

My coaching approach combines deep listening, thoughtful questions, and a belief that every leader has unique strengths waiting to be brought forward. It is my privilege to walk alongside clients as they gain clarity, grow in resilience, and step more fully into who they are called to be.

Our Story

As a mother and daughter who live across the country from each other, and who also work jobs with significant drive times involved, we spend a lot of time on the phone—to each other. Through the years we have grown so much in both of our separate professions through these long conversations (with plenty of family updates, grandkid anecdotes, and life experiences thrown in!). Along the way, at just about the same time, we both discovered the incredible gift that quality coaching can bring to a person’s life. We each experienced excellent coaches, and through their sessions, we decided to pursue this for ourselves. Sharing the coaching journey was a natural step. Shared webinars, wisdom, and experiences through those long phone calls inevitably led to a lifelong dream—going in together to help others.

Our mutual respect, care, and deep desire to bring joy and hope add a unique quality to our practice. We offer our clients something they cannot experience with any other coaching practice—the wisdom, experience, and coaching expertise of each other. With client permission (of course!), each session comes with the option of having us consult with each other to offer more and better insight to our clients.

Kathleen’s vast experience as an emergency medicine physician and healthcare leader, and Jana’s experience pastoring and leading in the church and nonprofit world, along with both of our lives of family, parenting, and relationships, combine to make our coaching sessions ones that will impact your life in ways you won’t forget.
